The Trifecta challenge was to use three words ( remember, rain, rebellion ) to make a complete 36-word response.
Without further ado, I introduce:
Between Now and Then
History would not treat the vanquished kindly in this rebellion. Measuring the distance across the blood soaked field, pocked by rain and shells, he waited for the command and tried to remember ebullient times during childhood.
The blood and shell pockmarked field is a powerful image. Amazing job!
so I lost my comment – sigh – I do like this! It is so true to life that we do not remember such things as WHY war and skirishes and battles occur.
Definitely captured the misery of trench warfare.
Wonderful imagery!Loved the opening liners-very evocative:-)
Blood-soaked fields never bold well. excellent first line!
Love the word “ebullient.” It works really well here. This is a wonderful, stark image.
